Debating between purchasing a Chevy Cruze and a Ford Fusion? Or maybe you’re just interested in how the 2017 Chevy Cruze does in comparison to others cars in the midsize category. Continue reading to see why the Cruze is clearly the better choice.

Chevy Cruze L and LS versus the Fusion S

The fact of the matter is that not all of us have extra dough to spend on unnecessary features. The following are a couple reasons why you get more with the base model and LS versions of the Cruze.

Why pay more?

The base model of the Chevy Cruze is considerably cheaper than the base model of the Ford Focus. The Cruze L is the base model, which comes in a manual transmission. If you prefer an automatic transmission, the Cruze has an LS, which is still cheaper than the Fusion S. For details on New MSRP, check out Zimbrick Chevrolet.

Performance

Cruze longer

Get an EPA estimated fuel economy of 28 MPG in the city and 39 MPG on the highway. On the LS automatic, it’s 30 MPG in the city and 40 MPG on the highway. Compare that to the Fusion’s 21 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.

Carry more

You get a bigger trunk volume with the Chevy Cruze. On both the L Manual and LS Automatic, the trunk volume is 22.7 cu.-ft. The Ford Fusion S has a trunk space of only 16 cu.-ft.

A Better Exterior

Easier parking

The overall length of the Chevy Cruze’s L Manual and LS Automatic are 183.70 in. This’ll make it easier to squeeze into street parking. You probably won’t get that as much with the lengthy 191.8 in. of the Ford Fusion.

Sportier appearance

Aerodynamic sculpting and dual projector headlamps make for a more dynamic styling on the Cruze. Dual projector headlamps light up the road for improved visibility during nighttime driving. The automatic on/off feature allows users to remotely turn the vehicle on or off when needed. This amenity comes standard on the L Manual and LS Automatic.

Choose from a hatch or sedan

For the first time, the Chevy Cruze has added a hatchback. The Cruze hatchback offers 47.2 cu.-ft. of cargo space when the second row is down. The Fusion simply doesn’t offer a hatchback version.
