Chances are you’ve heard the expression “Don’t mess with success.” Well, it’s time to forget about it. With the remarkable towing and off-roading capability to star alongside a surprisingly smooth drive, the 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71 is already great. But the new special editions are just ridiculous.

At Zimbrick Chevrolet, we’re big truck people — but we understand that a truck doesn’t have to be big to be a game-changer. Keep reading to find out what Chevy has in store with this midsize pickup truck’s brilliant special editions.

What You Should Know About the 2018 Chevy Colorado Special Editions

Chevrolet Z71 Centennial

This sharp-dressed trim is a true celebration of Chevrolet’s 100 years of truck dominance. Everything about this pickup exudes sophistication and power — from the Centennial Blue exterior to the heritage Chevy bowtie emblems and chrome accessories. But the Z71 Centennial isn’t just a looker. When you equip it with the 308-horsepower 3.6L V6 engine, this truck is a doer.

Chevrolet Z71 Midnight

Every event is a black-tie event for this trim. In addition to black Chevy bowties, this rendition sports a blacked out exterior, grille, and all-weather floor liners. And with an available class-exclusive Duramax® 2.8L Turbo-Diesel engine that helps it achieve a best-in-class 7,770-lb. towing capacity and up to 30 mpg of fuel economy on the highway, the Z71 Midnight overshadows competition.

But there’s someone we’re forgetting about…

Chevrolet ZR2 Dusk & Midnight

Like their Z71 friends, the Chevy ZR2 Dusk and Midnight editions look pretty dapper. With black Chevy bowties, black accessory wheels, and a sport bar with off-road LED lighting, the ZR2 Midnight embraces its darker side. The ZR2 Dusk boasts a lighter color. But don’t let it fool you. With segment-exclusives like Multimatic™ shocks and front and rear electronic locking differentials, this pickup lives dangerously as the most capable off-roading truck there is.

A 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 towing a trailer

If you’re going to claim to be in it for the long haul, you better be one of the most rugged and resilient vehicles on the road. With a legacy of excellence that dates back a century, the 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 fits that bill to a tee. A towing machine, this full-size pickup truck can pull a whopping, best-in-class 12,500 lbs. when properly equipped.

But how exactly does it do the trick? Keep reading our vehicle spotlight to find out.

How the 2018 Silverado 1500 Hauls Best-in-class Numbers

Performance

You don’t get to be able to tow over six tons without packing some serious muscle. The 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 brings three strapping engine options to the table, with the available 420-horsepower 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 standing at the top of the line. This engine generates an extraordinary 460 lb.-ft. of torque, and when combined with the Max Trailering Package, helps the new Silverado 1500 tow 12,500 lbs., more than any in-segment competitor.

But the other selections aren’t too shabby, either. The 5.3L V8 and 4.3L V6 engine options can tow up to 11,100 lbs. and 7,600 lbs. respectively.

Design

There’s nothing light-duty about the Silverado 1500. Every detail of this full-size truck was chiseled to impress and every inch was designed to dominate — from the high-strength steel frame to the hydraulic body mounts and trailering mirrors. But the Silverado 1500 was engineered for more than just towing. With the CornerStep rear bumper and available EZ Lift & Lower tailgate, it can take on smaller projects, too.

Safety

Having the strength to get the job done only takes you so far. It means nothing if you can’t accomplish your goals safely. That’s why it’s a good thing that the 2018 Silverado 1500 makes towing easier than before.

The available EchoMaster® Trailering Camera System provides access for up to four cameras that help eliminate blind spots and enhance your vision when maneuvering and backing up. And just in case that’s not enough, Stabilitrak® with Trailer Sway Control technology automatically detects a veering trailer and applies brakes to get things back in line.

Looking for a used car? You’re in good company.

The demand for used cars has never been higher than it is right now. In fact, more than 40 million used cars were sold in the U.S. in 2016 alone. The perks of choosing a pre-owned vehicle are undeniable. But with so many available options, honing in on the right used car may seem like an intimidating task.

But it doesn’t have to be. At Zimbrick Chevrolet, we know that hunting down the right pre-owned vehicle can be stressful. That’s why we want to prepare you for your search. Below, you’ll find a used car checklist that you should never shop without.

10 Steps to Follow When Buying a Used Car

1. Do your homework

Buying the right used car begins well before you get to the lot. You’ve got a lot to compare and consider — from budget and practicality to performance features and reliability ratings. Showing up well-prepared is a must and our model research pages are a great place to start.

2. Request the vehicle history report

Knowing a car’s history is an integral part of the shopping process. A CARFAX® Vehicle History Report will show you the title, ownership, and maintenance records for the life of the vehicle so that you can catch up and be aware of the car’s upkeep history.

3. Inspect the exterior

This is one case in which it’s okay to judge a book by its cover. Inspect the body for dings or scrapes. Investigate the glass and lenses for cracks, pocks, or unusual moisture. Examine the tires for signs of reduced tread depth. A car’s appearance reflects upon you as the owner, so you’ll want to make sure it’s in good shape.

4. Check under the hood

Even the best looking used cars can be deceptive. Pop the hood to make sure everything looks up to snuff within. Give the hoses, belts, and radiator a thorough look over to make sure there aren’t any excess fluids in places they don’t belong. Check the battery for corrosion. You’ll want to identify problems that may have been missed.

5. Look under the vehicle

You don’t want to miss anything. Have a peek under the vehicle to ensure that you haven’t overlooked a problem. Leaks and residue can be indicators of bigger issues, so you’ll want to eliminate them before you even set foot behind the wheel.

6. Examine the interior

If you’ve made it this far, you’re ready for a closer look. Scan the cabin for any damage to the seats or peculiar odors that raise a flag. Make sure all the car’s instruments, controls, and pedals function properly. You’ll need them to before you decide to schedule a test drive.

7. Go for a test drive

It all comes down to this. A car can look as good in real life as it does on paper, but it’s not the right model for you if it doesn’t feel that way on the road. Pay attention to how the car accelerates, handles, and brakes. Test safety systems and entertainment features. There are too many options for you to pick a car that you don’t have chemistry with.

8. Get it evaluated

Getting a second opinion is perfectly acceptable. You have our word at Zimbrick Chevrolet, but we understand that you’ll probably want to get your car scrutinized by someone else. Being comfortable with your purchase before you close the deal is of utmost importance to all parties involved.

9. Ask questions

You don’t want to leave our dealership with unanswered questions. Lucky for you, our staff is full of experts in all things Chevy. We know that you’ve done your research, but we’re still here to answer any questions you might have — before, during, and after the purchase.

10. Sign on your terms

Timing is different for everyone. We want you to be as confident in your purchase as possible. Whether you’re ready to buy as soon as the test drive is over or you need a night to sleep on it, we’re excited to send you home in your next Chevy.

2017 Chevy Cruze with text that says "2017 Chevy Cruze vs. 2017 Ford Focus"

There’s a lot to love about the Chevy Cruze. With the charmingly bold inside-out design to complement its outstanding capability, this crafty compact car holds its own against all-comers. And the Ford Focus is no exception.

With a much lower MSRP, the Cruze gives the Fusion a run for its money — literally. But how does it stack up to its Ford counterpart in other categories?

Read on to find out.

A Test of the Best: 2017 Chevy Cruze vs. 2017 Ford Focus

Which Model is Designed to Dominate?

While the 2017 Ford Focus isn’t hard to look at, it’s not much more than meets the eye, either.

The 2017 Chevy Cruze, however, packs big personality into its compact frame. A sporty grille rounds off the Cruze’s aerodynamic curves. And with a solar-absorbing glass window, the Cruze looks like it was chiseled for performance.

But that’s only the outside.

Offering 47.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down, the Cruze Hatchback easily surpasses the 16 cubic feet of the Ford Focus – and it’s not even close.

Which Model is Primed to Perform?

The 2017 Focus generates some impressive horsepower, but with only 32 mpg of highway fuel economy on its non-hybrid trims, it’s all bark and no bite.

On the other hand, the 2017 Cruze can nearly reach that in the city. Boasting a standard 1.4L turbo engine that’s capable of achieving an outstanding 40 mpg of fuel efficiency on the highway, it’s not hard to see why the new-and-improved Cruze is Motor Trend’s second-best compact sedan.

You do the math.

Which Model is a Safe Bet?

The 2017 Ford Fusion comes with seven airbags. That’s pretty good.

But the Cruze was the first car in its class to have ten standard airbags.

The peace of mind doesn’t end there, though. With a full suite of safety technology, such as the rear view camera, Stabilitrack® traction control, and an available Driver Confidence Package, the Cruze provides security that the Focus just can’t match.

Cruise Ahead of the Field in Sun Prairie, WI

It’s plain to see how the 2017 Chevy Cruze edges out the 2017 Ford Focus. And because we’re in the business of winning here at Zimbrick Chevrolet, we want to set you up with a model that has as much drive as you. Schedule a test drive or stop by today to get started.
